The Handicapper Book

We view handicapping as a puzzle with several pieces interwoven. The biggest piece of of the puzzle is the trainer. As such, more than half of our book is devoted to profiling 100 to 125 of the most active trainers at each meet. At this time, we write Handicapper books for Gulfstream and Saratoga.

The Trainer

We provide you with a detail "profile" for 25 top trainers, exposing their strengths and weaknesses while tipping you off to successful maneuvers made at past meets. Each profile includes a full page of statistics and is often accompanied by graphics or past performances of horses which won while exhibiting a key angle. Our trainer stats are based on the last 2 meets except at Saratoga where we draw on the last 3 meets.

We also provide you with 100 "mini-profiles" which include summary stats and a paragraph or two of text analysis.

Even though we cover 100 to 125 top trainers, we know our readers want more! So, we provide stats for every trainer who has (1) saddled at least 1 winner at either of the last two meets; or (2) saddled at least 5 starters combined at the past two meets. This table acts as an index for the trainers profiled while providing summary stats for the others.

The Jockey

Jockeys are also an important part of the puzzle. Our Handicapper books cover the Top 40 to 50 jockeys. For each jockey listed we provide you with summary stats and record on the turf.
